PC wont boot

    Hi
    I am using XP media center and my pc wont boot at all, even in safe mode. When i try to boot in safe mode it just hangs at the following entry, pciide.sys.

    so i cant do anything. before this my network card had stopped working.

    anyone got any ideas?

    pciide.sys is a system driver file, could be corrupt, take out the network card, see if anthing is wrong in the bios. Might need a reinstall.

    At exactly what stage does it hang, what happens? Do you get a blue screen or have you installed any new hardware?

    If it hangs on pciide.sys the one after it is probably corrupted. It is probably related to the network card and why it stopped working. OP if you google this error you'll probably find the driver that's causing this. If you replace it from the recovery console it could fix the problem.
