SGA - 4x18 - The Kindred [SPOILERS]

Episode synopsis from TV.com:

While a disease spreads through the Pegasus Galaxy, Teyla believes the father of her child is trying to communicate with her.

The good episodes continue to come this season. It did start off a little slow with the visions and Teyla's quest to find her people/Kanaan and the back and forth to the market. We learn that there's a new virus spreading in the pegasus galaxy, it was cool they brought back the Hoffans storyline and went back to see what happened to them.

Todd could have been killed after what happend to the Midway Space Station, but it was good to see him again. I was surprised to see Michael but it's great he's back. Connor Trineer is doing a great job playing him. Michael is creating human-Wraith hybrids who don't need to feed. It will be some kind of super hybrid army, an improvement on his first attempts with the bug people. Michael looks more human than before with his human eyes/hands. Kanaan is now part Wraith, not good news for Teyla. Does Michael eat regular food now? He must eat something.

Nice to see the Daedalus and Caldwell again and also to have Major Lorne get more screentime, it feels like they've fleshed out the cast much better this season(while having those small cast number eps too). The ending with Dr. Beckett was fantastic. It explains how Michael found out about the Hoffans virus. Really looking forward to next week now. This episode really has set it up great.

I dont knwo.. i m ean i knew what was comming at the end but still cought me off guard somehow. Shjould be a very good ending for anyone who does not read spoilers.

Anyway it was a good episode but in all fairness it was a wraith cruiser. 3 or 4 impacts from the weapons array can destory either an orai or anchaient mothership/Araura class and this was only a cruiser. I assumed 1 hit and the entire ship would be vaporised.

Besides that it was a good epsidoe, as you said a bit slow but still im looking forward to next week.

I hope the more humanslave wraith thingeys that i think micheal is making them into is a way of cutting down on costume/makup costs?

I enjoyed it - nice mix of multiple story strands. Michael makes a welcome return - always think Trinner's done a good job with him. Now to have him going up against Todd is a worthwhile development - both enjoyable villains. I wonder if they'll get to betray Michael again?

Tey-Lo, who hasn't done much since getting up the duff, was useful this episode. I'm not quite sure what plans Michael has for Tey-Lo Junior but it's obviously got to do with perfecting the human/wraith hybrid.

Didn't know about the re-appearance this episode, so that was a nice surprise. Given that Beckett was incinerated last season, I wonder how they're going to explain him? Sample DNA used to create a clone wouldn't explain him having Beckett's memories. Shall be interesting!

i hope its not that he is the real becket and the one that was killed was the clone/fake who was sent to infultrade atlantis but did his job being fitting in a bit too well

I think this will be the case re Beckett that creator makes subject, and then the subject creates his maker again...plus i think Beckett's knowledge in the area of Hybrid/wraith conversion is been utilised by Michael...
I think too that the "battle" with the cruiser was unsatisfactory to say the least...
The episode was a good start to a two part schedule, so the main focus of this episode was to put everything into context for the next...
Talya's baby will be a huge factor regarding the Hybrid creations methinks, and i think was already tampered with in some way when she was captured in the earlier episode...

I liked the ending and it was good to see Michael back. Much of the rest of it was so-so for me. The whole sickness and zombiefication I thought was telegraphed. The weakest of the 2nd half of the season for me and just OK.

There's a thought. I'll have to go back and verify that at some stage.

Todd was cool again. I always like his banter, its so different from other Wraith interactions. And now Michael is actually starting to seem like a character, whereas before I honestly couldn't stand the guy.

It'll be interesting to see what happens next for sure.

Either Beckett that died was a clone, the new Beckett was a clone or Beckett was beamed away by wraith just as the bomb went off in 'Sunday'

Now if its neither one of those outcomes, the writers win... as long as its not something expected I'll be happy.

Beckett [the actor] has already confirmed that this return is not some sort of clone or multi-dimensional time travelling whosit; and that the the return is logical and satisfying much akin to the way we got our Danny boy back.

Umm from the stickied Discussing new episodes thread:

Within a clearly marked thread, I think it's fair not to have to use spoiler space UNLESS it's about an episode not yet aired (this includes the previews for next week's epsidoes too as I generally avoid them).

That's why you were put in spoilers. Don't ya think people don't want to know what happens in a future episode? This one's only about what's aired so far in the US.

Ah don't worry nobody will kill you, unless you turn into a Wraith For future stuff you have two choices:
1. Clearly marked spoilers in threads like this preferably telling everyone what's in the spoilers, i.e. spoilers about next weeks ep as in this case or season 5 casting news before the spoiler so people know if they want to read
2. Clearly named threads with [spoilers] in the title, as an example the season 5 casting news thread, in such a thread the info about the casting need not be spoilered.

As for you being told we don't need to use spoilers in the episode threads that refers to anything that happens in the episode and past episodes but not future episode info.

Ye i would have to agree with you there Overheal. I dont think SGA will get a season 6. But i am very interested, the events in the next SG1 movie (Contunium) might stir things up but i dont know how/or if atlantis is involved

is the real Beckitt and the one we saw die was a copy/fake/replicator/evil sorcerer.

it does not matter because the music, the situtation that is taking place any sg fan knows before it happens, its no big spoiler, your powers of prediction would have spoiled it for you.

with the help of other replicators forced carson to decend much the way the collective power of the milkyway lantians forced anubis to deacend? just a guess but they said that carson is broguht back in a faithfull way. I think it has to be either the fake one died or this is the real one decended because i cant see them having this one as a fake.

EDIT: BTW im just guessing that he accended there has been nothing on gateworld saying how/why he is there

We've seen them held by Wraith shields before. And I imagine Todd/Michael could alter their behaviour if they wanted to.

I dont think the wraith are more advanced than the anchients we dont know how longthe replicator was in that shield for and one would assume it could break out given time. But you are right i think todd especially would have the knowledge to alter ones behaviour but i dont think micheal has had enough experience with them

Was it even a shield? The wraith dont have shields on their ships, so its more plausible that its some other type of technology that hasn't been discussed.

from reading ther pre airing snippets I had assumed that it was an ascended becket that would be tryin to communicate with Tryla, also based on the assumption that the Pegasus Galsxy had its own version of Oma de Sala lookin out over the mortal realm and decidin that Because becket had the Gene and was a fairly decent and enlightened bloke and died in an untimely and heroic manner........ well ya get the picture, she had ascended him and he was tryin to warn her to warn them about the impending wraith threath, course I was fairly wrong about that, but he may still be an ascended being
