    Hi all

I was given a 4gb Sd card for my digital camera as a present.
I thought that would cost a bomb and was delighted with it.

When inserted in to my camera it reads

    Memory Card error
    Card locked

I later found out that the card didnt cost a bomb and it was purchased for €10 on ebay and was brought in fro Hong Kong.

Is there anyway i can unlock the card or will it simly not suit or work on my camera.

    Any reply is appreciated.

It is possible to lock memory cards, but it's a soft lock, so there is also programs which will unlock them.
Have you tried to format the card in your camera?
Anyway, search the interweb thingy for unlocking programs.

There's also a physical lock on SD cards. It's a pin/slider on the card. See if it's in the lock or unlock position.

There's the Tech Support frame of mind, showing through. :)
I'd offend people, if I stated the obvious like that!

LOL. Sometimes it's the simple things that catch us out. Best start with the basic things - is the power on? Have you turned it on? Is the pin in the lock or unlock position?

You never know, it might just solve the problem. :D

Could it be that you got a SD-HC card and your camera only recognises SD cards?

I would make a guess in saying that at most the camera only supports 2GB sd card.

I got 4gb SD cards before and a lot of the gear I have here wont see them at all, My own compact camera wont even go above 1GB
