Hey guys just wondering if any of you have done any rider assessment's with the likes of quinn or aon.

If you could post your thoughts or experiences on them it would be much appreciated.

    Cheers :D

Surprised you have not had any replies to this yet!

I did some training with www.msa-ireland.com last year. Did a 2 day course one weekend. First day was in a carpark to do with the basics, like clutch control, cornering, gears etc. Spent sometime on their similator as well.

Next day was in the carpark in the morning and then out on the road. Ended up driving from Walkinstown out to tallght and then into the city centre.

Was never on a bike before and found it great. Now, 7 months later, I am commuting daily on a Bandit :D

I have heard great reviews for Dave Lyons (check http://www.mrtg.ie/easyrider_training.htm)

David Lyons is fantastic! Couldn't recommend him enough!

However I'm not sure if his courses are recognised by insurance companies...

Just checked the AON webpage and Dave Lyons is one of their recognised instructors.

I have a grade 1 Quinn and grade 2 Aon cert. Cost me about €500 in lessons to get them and they have saved me €600 on my premium this year alone. They are like an advanced driving test covering hazard awareness, vehicle control, cornering ability, road position etc. I'd recommend doing them after about ten hours lessons or so. They are good for teaching you a bit of discipline in your riding, and could save you from crashing.

Some insurance companies won't insure you on certain bikes unless you have one of these certs (but thius may only be when you are on a provisional like me).

Grade 4 is basic, Grade 1 is very advances - and very difficult to get i hear. A greade 2 is takes as as good as a full licence by some. I deffo want to get a grade 2 asap. I;ve only started riding, and I'm signed up to do the Silver Star Rider Training Course with Fingal Co Council.

Interested to hear about others though too
