ok not sure if this is the right forum but could;nt find any other.

Here is story,(i'll keep it short)

Crashed my car into another car from behind. Mine needs bumper resprayed and has a dent on bonnet.
I hit the back of the other car and damaged the spare wheel well and the booth is out of line.

Car is valued at about €1500 and cost of repair is €3500

She said she would take €1500 to settle it,because I said i did'nt really want to go through insurance.

I am short of cash so cant really afford €1500
So am wondering if i claim how much will my insurance go up.
Next renewal for my premium is €1200
I have fully comp so i could get my car fixed aswell.

Just looking for other opinions because dont know what to do

    Thanks

OK, your woman is being decent enough firstly so don't forget that!

Anyhow, glad nobody was injured, etc.. It does sound like you dont have an option here so discuss it with your insurance company. We don't know the details of your policy, car, # years NCB, etc. If you have sweet FA NCB then it may not go up much, but then again...

However, get yours done also - may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb!

I wouldn't even dream of going through the insurance for that amount.

You would be better off going to the bank and getting a loan for the €1.5 k than going through insurance. If they pay out the 1.5k they WILL get that back from you and (a lot) more.

Also, as KB said, if you do (wrongly IMO) decide to go insurance, then get both cars done.

Also Also, as KB aslo said. The chick seems like she is being reasonable about it. Don't screw here now. Remember, while you are humming and hawing about what you'll do, she has no car.

Similiar thing happened my wife, settling out of insurance admints your responsibility and only covers you for damage incurred now. She is well within her rights to come back in a year or more and claim off you for spinal injury etc.... and as you payed now and did not include your insurance you will have to cough up in future.

They way around this is to have your solicitor settle on you behalf. As our solicitor suggested to my wife 3 years ago.
