Problems with GJP and IBB

I posted over a year ago I think on this issue and it's still baffling me.

I'm pretty sure it's not a GJP issue, but I don't think it's an IBB issue so i'm puzzled.

Is anyone here playing on GJP via IBB and having connectivity issues?

The issue I see mostly is after I login I cant' see any tables or I login connect to a table and don't see the avatar/current game stats/hands deals etc

I have the same problem on both laptop with XP and a PC with VISTA so it's not "machine" specific.

    Anyone else?

I think iPoker has trouble handling dropped packets, and IBB drops packets a lot. I gave up in the end and got DSL for poker.

I've IBB and ipoker is tilt inducing. I've recently signed up to GJP to try qualify for the IO (don't want to wear a PP fluorescent bin man shirt), but the lags are just ridiculous. I can't play a full un-interuppted hand, it's the same on microgaming btw.

    Stars and FT are perfect.

    Definitely an IBB issue.

I had major problems with them but ran iPoker perfectly with both Digiweb and now BT.

Most likely IBB have a standard configuration for their routers/nationwide that causes packet flow control problem on the ports iPoker uses. I had no problems with any other site except Full Tilt, and even though my download speeds were very high I also had lag problems playing Call of Duty and Halo on my XBox.

In a nutshell IBB blows chunks.

BTW, Someone told me recently that you can't play iPoker in certain parts of the UK if you're on tiscali because they block the ports! When he asked tiscali why they did this they're response was that they wanted to protect problem gamblers.

I can't play on ipoker anymore since switching to mobile broadband. Mr. Flibble is spot on with his analysis I think.

Any ftp or telnet session i have open drops if I leave it idle for longer than 20 seconds. I have to set the keep-alive option to send empty packets every 5 seconds and it seems to work much better. Might be something for the ipoker developers to look into. Stars and FT work fine.

Jesus IBB are pants, get off them.... almost certainly what they dropping and timing out so many packets that the software thinks it has disconnected.

In short, don't buy "BB" with the words "Clear" "Breeze" or "Wave" in the name.

    DeV.

I dont have a problem playing on Stars, GJP or Full Tilt with IBB, but I noticed it dropping a good bit last night with Party, but not too sure if it was the bad winds.

This is where it all gets a bit confusing.

I'm basically having a problem with all the networks bar Stars but the main problem is with GJP even then Stars can lag out a bit.

Playing Xbox is basically fine, but there's too many things here to try and test as the host can be some asssshat in the middle of no where on satellite or some BS so more than likley not IBB here as live seems a bit crap on most ISP's due to the lack of dedicated servers

Sorry OCallagh, im not an IT buff but a buddy of mine is having the same problem on Ipoker through a mobile broadband connection and i will be swithing to one myself in a couple of months, what does this solution mean or how do you do it?

Same story, no probs with Stars.

Telnet? wtf uses Telnet these days? ;)

a lot of ISP's force disconnects on idle open connections which is ok by me.

But when I'm shoving the last of the shopping budget into a pot, i'm not friggin idle ;)

basically what you're trying to do is send packets to make the ISP *think* the connection is active.

Some appliacations have the option built in e.g. if you use putty for SSH connections there's an option to send packets x amount of seconds.

to test if yo open a command prompt and do

    ping -t www.google.ie

fire up ipoker and see if it makes a difference I'm not sure if Ipoker suffers with the idle time outs or if ocallagh is talking specificly for ftp/telnet
