Aren't we all. As AC states, Advert.ie and ebay are your est bet, also buyandsell.ie and the local papers might have something of interest. Or local computer stores may have a fixer upper for ya.

I've bought electronics from e-bay before without problem (though never a laptop). The usual caveat emptor applies.

Laptopsdirect have a bargain section with new laptops that have things such as a crack in the lid.

Briman - you are joking right? 2Gbs of storage? My phone has more capacity than that.

Well you said you wanted something for internet, emails etc. You can put xp on this as well and it is supposed to work quite well. If the screen is an issue you could pick up a second hand 15" tft for next to nothing and a usb keyboard and mouse. You now have the bones of a desktop all for little money. There is also nothing stoping you from using a 2gb up to 32gb flash drive. If you want more storage again use a portable usb drive like the western digital passport up to 250gb.

If you're goin to go down the EEE route, i'd suggest the 4gig model, i have one with an 8gig sdhc card and it's class, idea for internet mails, general office tasks on the go, i have xp running on it.
