Curved St Cafe Market Day is a new fashion market opened in Film base opposite the Button Factory. Fashion hunters can browse funky stalls of second-hand items, local designer goodies and vintage jewelry all the while sipping their lattes and munching on yummy cookies and muffins at the Cafe.

Why is it that every single Irish fashion piece uses the word funky? It's usually at that point that I switch off.

Yep such a lack of any real substance, "funky" irritates me as it's lost all meaning, does it feature in any fashion lit from abroad or is it a sign of the lack of imagination of Irish fashionistas? I also hate how "funky" is preferred over originality

If any of ye are unfortunate enought to be able to get a copy of Galway First, you'll see a street style section which is drivel!!! Overuse of 'fesh' and 'funky', not to mention the odd 'you go girl!'...it drives me nuts every week, we even place bets to see how many times the writer uses 'funky'..........plus everyome she photographs either works in BT's or Wallis....true

(shudder) I can just imagine what that Galway First column is like  These columnists are so crap no harm to them esp considering they pick people who clearly LACK style if anything  maybe I just don't get "funky" :D:D:D

Maybe it's my own opinion that they should get one person who dresses smart casual, one who has a very unique twist/dresses origianally and a n other..not three dollybirds who own most of BTs and have their nails done every week...

Yep I have to agree with you, the use of stereotypical dollybirds perpetrates the one idea of style in Ireland whereas there is so much street style here that wouldnt get a look in

I see projects in the pipeline!!

To be honest I'd love to do somethign like that, I dabbled with the idea of just in my city alone, but I think it would be great to have 'rep' in different cities who "spot and snap"...I know Glamour had a feature some months back and they took pics of girls in about ten different UK cities and pulled them all together...I actually kept the magazine as I liked the idea...and then as the 'company/site' expanded I'm sure different sections could taper off, like 'indie' smart casual' boho (boohoo) or whatever....tick tick boom...

See, we need original people with a good eye doing it rather than journalists with space to fill! And down with the word funky! I like the way they give people's own words in Hel-looks - it's inspiring and interesting.
