Hey just wondering what do most people think of the way alot of girls mostly in dublin wear their hair in a kind of messy big look?

HA state of them, trying to acheive the "I just got out of bed" look but really they spent an hour back combing it to look like a mess. :P

    not so hot

The big hair look should have stayed where it belonged: the 80s.

depends....sometimes i like it when its not too much...generally love big hair

but sometimes it can look like a birds nest fell on their heads and they just never noticed

It's awful, plaguing my school(I'm in Cork). Looks ridiculous imo. But hey, other people come up to me and ask 'Why don't you straighten your hair?', so I'm guessing my own hair isn't everyone's cup of tea either! :p

Is it just a case of backcombing it or is there more to it?

It's hilarious, they look slow....sure whatever they're in to

Oh god I couldn't stand hair like that! If I had straight hair I would want it to look silky-smooth, not the tangled, dried-out birds nests that sit atop some people's heads!

I have big-ish hair because it's curly so it has lots of volume, but it certainly isn't messy!

    It's a D4 thing.

Retarded is the only word for it. They look like they lack the mental capacity to groom themselves.

It will make you look 14/15 as well as these seem to be the only group of girls who think this looks in any way decent.

Lots of gel/spray, I suspect. Perhaps some hairpins hidden in there. Reminds me of the beard in The Twits (you know, with last month's cornflakes).

I thought the just out of bed look was meant to be effortless but thee wannabe D4s/real D4s clearly spend AGES doing the semi beehive/birdsnest  I like messy hair in a rock bitch kinda way but not this

Is brushing hair now out of fashion?
It's a ridiculous trend - i personally think it's give the impression that that person couldn't be bothered to make an effort.

Loike OMG I spent Loike so long trying to make my hair big I almost missed the Dort.
its a look reserved for D4 wannabes ~ shudder ~ don't do it

There's no way it's jus backcombing, I could backcomb till kingdom come and put on product/spray with little success..there must be more....short of using a vacuum cleaner to make it scenester...i know of someone who does that!

I knew I was getting old when I heard myself saying 'Why don't they comb their hair?' - sounded just like my Dad.

He'd have an apoplectic fit at the way those girls slap around the place in Dubes or Uggs.

I know this hair style is hideous!!

but I thought of that other discusting hairstlye thats very popular.

The one where girls have all these spiky bits sticking up from the crown of there heads you know that one?

Whats that even called and how do you even ask for it?

another 'must have' to go with the messy hair is the Ugg boots (or the penny's version!) And the sloppy Juicy Couture style tracksuit - i just don't get it!!

BUT the most frustrating thing is that its not a style that is or was ever in fashion! Big hair can look good yes, but that "thinned out due to too much styling and then sticking out at the back of their head" look is nothing and clearly does not look good. its just the top layer of hair raised up and looking like they fell in a pot of glue and it hasnt quite come out yet!!

Then again nothing that these girls do is ever anything to do with fashion. Mens sizes abercrombie hoodies and 2 years out of date Ugg boots kinda say that in itself.

Not everyone in Laurel Hill has hair like that. Well most of Colaiste do, but thats a different story :p The english school however, has only about 1/4 of the student body if even that with messy hair :D

Walk through an hedge backwards? Thats what D4 girls look like they've done.

If you want normal volume that doesnt look like a bird nest then just blow dry your hair upstairs down.

I have that, but not in a scangery way.. I asked for razored spiky layers and thats what I got.. But they're sort-of long so they just add volume behind my fringe..

As for the messy hair it can look nice sometimes if it's done right... But thats only a small majority...

Saw a girl in Dundrum with it with small plaits in it and it looked very nice..
