I am recently after starting a scuba dive course and am looking to buy a pair of boots, fins and mask for a reasonable price. My local shop is looking for 200euro for the 3 items. Has anyone bought these items online? If so could you tell me the website and how did it work out.?

    check out www.flagshipscuba.com

They have some pretty good gear at a pretty good price at the moment, you can see all their prices on their site

You can go to a dive show, look at the stuff and then order it online if you are sure what you want (check eBay and don't just look at the Irish page, check ebay.co.uk and whatever else languages you speak)
Or you go to either Flagship or Great Outdoors, they are both in Dublin. I'd pick Flagship anytime but I admit to be buying stuff of the web regularly.

[edit]I just recently bougth a suit from an Italian outlet and they delivered 1A quality within a weeks time, just look for the ratings.[/edit]

I've heard this place are quite good:

They'll do the lot delivered for about €115.

Now that's a shameless rip off. €115 for maks snorkel and poolfins! I can beat that anyday and easily.

Its €115 for mask, snorkel, sea fins and booties. OP wanted to bet the price of €200 from local shop, which I think I did, by quite a good bit.

    Thanks for all your help

I had a look around and i think i am going to go with this crowd seems a good deal to me.

    Mask

    Fins
    http://www.bigorangewatersports.co.uk/store/product_info.php?cPath=34&products_id=252

    Boots
    http://www.bigorangewatersports.co.uk/store/product_info.php?cPath=31&products_id=241

    Mask £16.65
    Fins £29.50
    Boots £19.50
    Shiping £14.50

    Grand total of 106.27 euro

Regarding the boots is it important to get the 6.5mm boots for Irish weather or would i get away with smaller ones?

Are a pair of dive gloves also essential?

I am planning on ordering tomorrow morning, do you think that it is a good deal?

Might not be the wisest to buy a mask online.

Better to see that it fits first!

IOW buy local, try b4u buy.

Fins too come in at least three sizes - you know yours??

The rest may be okay, and yes, you will need 6.5/7mm booties in our waters - with sox on!!

They seem to be cheap alright. I'm just in the process of about to start getting some gear myself. Just doin the medical next week before I start.

I was thinking of taking a spin up to www.aquaholics.org to see what their like.

Would love to have gone up to dive ireland in belfast this weekend to take a look at some gear.

Thickness of the boots is one thing but it wont mean much if they are 2 sizes too big, same with mask, a crappy fit will really annoy you (you'll get very good at mask clearing though;)). go to a local supplier, try before you buy, and if you really want a good deal try to find the same mask or boots online.

I took a spin up to get my gear off Richard in www.aquaholics.org. Very nice fella to deal with. Bought all the gear in my sig.

Got finished with my pool session lastnight so it's off into the ocean to start on my snorkels on Saturday.
