Sassy Sue’s Go-Go Inevitable welcomes Bob Stanley, Co-founder of the wonderful Saint Etienne and Pop music scenester supreme. A Legendry record collector and the man who gave Brit Pop some much needed style and swing. Music journalist for NME, Melody Maker, Mojo, The Guardian and the Times.

He has also worked on the other side of the industry briefly running Caff, an independent record label, which released early works by Pulp and the Manic Street Preachers.

Last year Stanley curated “CD86”, an anthology of mid eighties indie pop, an anoraks wet dream sound track of jingle-jangle classics from amongst others the Jesus and Mary chain, The Shop assistants and Big Flame. The collection’s title refers to “C86” the zeitgeist defining NME cover mounted cassette.

Bob plays pristine 60s pop and beat, and has a rep for ramming dance floors wherever he plays.

    A bit about Saint Etienne:

Throughout the 1990s Saint Etienne infused post acid house indie dance with the groovieness of swinging sixties London. A quintessential British sound; smooth, stylish and as catchy as a virus.
Though formed in 1988 By Bob Stanley and Peter Wiggs, it wasn’t until the honey voiced Sarah Cracknell joined and the trio recorded 1991’s “Fox Base Alpha” that their sound was complete. Through out the nineties Saint Eteinne became the most respected representatives of the “Indie Dance” scene. Though less prolific than they once were Saint Etienne continue to record, 2002’s “Finisterre” being a career highlight.

And a little bit ‘bout Mr Martin Green

As court DJ for Pulp, Blur and Oasis - Martin Green provided the soundtrack for wildest of the Brit Pop years. He has also produced seven compilation albums for both independent and major labels and promoted or played some of London’s most iconic club nights. Most notorious of these was “Smashing”, which was voted the number one club of the nineties by readers of Time Out magazine.
