Just in case anyone is looking for the above sat nav - I reckon the best place to get one so far is Elara.ie It's cheaper than Argos, Harvey Norman. Harvey Norman were charging €450 and Elara are charging €310.

I'm not sure - I've never had a Sat Nav before. I think the Tom Tom 520 has more features etc. It all depends on what you want I guess. I just couldn't get over the price differences - you really need to shop around.

No adverts, smithslist, if your friend has one then sell it on adverts.ie. Please take time to read the charter in future.

It's good kit itself and the mapping is okay around Galway City but mapping is not great once you head off the beaten track.

It's got bluetooth and ipod connectivity so it is pretty good value for the €299

Hi got Tom Tom one Europe , UK and Ireland. Used in France, excellent, Uk good, however anytime that I have used it in Ireland it has been absolute rubbish. That includes using it in Dublin suburbs Clontarf, Portmarnock and many urban areas.

recently got TomTom sat nav on phone (Navigator 6) - assuming they use the same source of mapping on the 520 (TeleAtlas), TomTom maps are darn poor. Their user interface is quite nice though but the maps badly let them down.

Garmin appear to have the best coverage for maps.

Got a TomTom One UK & Ireland last night in Curry's in Gullivers Retail Park, Northwood last night for €189 euro. Used it today, works very well, brought us stright to the boyfriends parents house, the destination was right outside the door.
