ok my problem is that i would like to get some form of therapy but am not sure if i need it or how to go about it. i'm 21 & female. i'm afraid that if i go to a GP they won't think i need to be refered or whatever. i have issues with relating to people and forming relationships, basically am a recluse and can be paranoid & insecure due to social isolation. however i'm sure i still come accross as 'normal' to other people. do you think i need therapy? what would be the best thing to do, see a GP? and how much would this kind of thing cost?

Everyone can benefit from therapy. It is not a question of needing it tbh, if you want it then it can open many doors for you. You don't have to be "mad" to go to therapy. That is the first thing you will learn. No one is "normal". No such thing. We're all demented in some way!

My therapist charged €55 euro for an hour a week but you can find ones who charge less or more.

Thats not imoportant, do you? Just go to your GP, they will refer someone in the area and then speak with them.

Look at the website for the Irish Council for Psychottherapy, where they give an intorduction to all the differnet kinds of therapy being offerred. It'll give you an idea of what's out there. Some are free and other are expensive. Some are weekly some less frequent. Are you shy or what is the problem?
