arrived back last nite from on aerlingus flights late early this morn was delayed by 2.5 hours
due to "air traffic control problems"
willi be entitled to any compensation?
my understanding was that over 2hours im entitled to compensation by the airline?
or do they have a getout clause as it is "not their fault" despite the fact ryan air flite at same time flew out on schedule
    any light any1

    (14) As under the Montreal Convention, obligations on operating air carriers should be limited or excluded in cases where an event has been caused by extraordinary circumstances which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Such circumstances may, in particular, occur in cases of political instability, meteorological conditions incompatible with the operation of the flight concerned, security risks, unexpected flight safety shortcomings and strikes that affect the operation of an operating air carrier.

I was delayed for over 6 hours at Stansted by Ryanair. I faxed them to claim compensation but got the standard reply - it was for Health and Safety reasons that they were late flying which gets around the EU regulations.

Funniest part was when the delay was announced at Stansted the Ryanair lady said "Don't be asking for vouchers (to spend during the delay), they won't give you anything"

It was a work to rule though, not a strike.
Do they have a way of squirming out of that too?
