Hi, ill be using this for running lots of poker programs, itunes, flashget, dvd decrypter, dvd shrink, avi to dvd converters, videora and stuff like that, possibly all at the same time and also for watching hi def movies and stuff. Does this all look ok or is there anywhere i should spend more or less or anything. Any help is much appreciated. nb- I will NEVER be playing games on this ever.

Also ill be buying this monitor to go with it, is it suitable with that graphics card, is there another monitor for the same price that is better?

The total cost is 925, dont think you can see it in the pic

    Thanks in advance

drop the 8800gts and get something like this instead.
    http://www1.hardwareversand.de/6VbioANvdSNWYx/3/articledetail.jsp?aid=19648&agid=554
if your never playing games then 137 euro on a graphics card is pointless.

    that monitor costs a fortune!!

have a look at something like this.
    http://www.dabs.ie/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4MQY&CategorySelectedId=11109&PageMode=1&NavigationKey=11109,49810000
or if you drop 2" in size something like this
    http://www.dabs.ie/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4NCB&CategorySelectedId=11109&PageMode=1&NavigationKey=11109,49810000

that will save a few hundred off the build. no point in paying huge amount of money when what your doing wont be too intensive.

Suppose you could get a blu-ray drive.. they cost under 200 now.. I got mine for 180!

Not much need for quad core really.. dual core would be still as good and cheaper! I had a dual core for a good while and it was perfect.. I was doing alot more than you aswell..

    Thanks for the replies.

Ill go for the cheaper graphics card then alright, nice one.
As regards the monitor it has to be a 24" with 1920x1200 resolution for poker, is that Acer one as good as the Dell performance wise and stuff, i dont mind paying a bit extra if its way better, 350-400 is my max spend. Any standout monitor for that price range??

I was thinking of a blu-ray drive but ill wait a bit longer before i get one i think.
I heard quad core was better for running multiple programs at once so thought it would be better for my needs, and also for future proofing so the computer is not ancient by xmas.

Quad core's only better if the applications support multiple threading (i.e. they "know" there's more than 1 processor and that they know how to take advantage of that). I would imagine most poker playing apps aren't quite up to that stage yet, so your RAM and video RAM becomes more important (as there's gonna be a lot of "movement" from up to 12 individual windows with all those pretty pictures etc).

Was looking at monitors yesterday on dabs and pixmania and was stunned by how cheap they've become! That Acer recommended by RoyalMarineCom looks like the weapon of choice, but here's the Pixmania selection for reference anyway.
