    Over on www.chrisguitars.com

    ebmm-stingray5-transred.jpg

    It's a Stingray, it's got 5 strings, it's red, and it's $999. :o

Now, I've no intention of buying it, I've sold off a lot of gear lately, including my last 5 stringer, but for a moment, I was tempted... The little voice in my head said "I'm buying that NOW!" but then logic kicked in sharply, and I came to my sense, what little of it there is.

Someone here snap this up, please.

When I first saw it, my first thought was that you'd be having a fit over it. :p

As gorgeous as that bass looks, the pesky little critters that are nibbling on the headstock would have gotten through the rest of the body by the time it's delivered. Not a fan of birdseye meself.:p

I had to stop and remind myself I already had an amp when chris put this one up:

And still finding it hard to talk myself out of this guitar:

    Meh.

I prefer the Bongo. Otherwise I'm not too mad on EBMM's. Chris hasn't had much interesting stuff recently.

    Stop,

    No bongo bashing! ;)

Bongo is one of the best basses i've ever played....and the EBMM5 is a great bass too. Everyone should have a MM...

Yeah, I wouldn't knock the Bongo. Especially when it comes in 6 string variety:

That's only a IIB, nothing special there tbh. Not sought after, and Chris has it waaay overpriced.

Yeah, made quite a few purchases from there. Chris is a great guy to deal with.

Yeah, I wouldn't knock the Bongo. Especially when it comes in 6 string variety:

It was released last month. :) They started taking orders from 21st Jan.

    Spec:

    BONGO 6

Featuring a unique body and neck concept designed in conjunction with BMW U.S.A., the Bongo 6 marks the exciting debut of Ernie Ball Music Man's first full-scale 6-string bass. Flaunting a slender-profile neck and string spacing that's equivalent to the company's popular Bongo and Stingray 5 Series instruments, the Bongo 6 has a 34" scale, bolt-on neck configuration and 24 frets as well as a basswood body, 18-volt preamp, 4 band EQ and neodymium magnets that provide an unparalleled tone and flexibility.

Somthing tells me john myung had somthing to do with the 6 string bongos release...or was it in the works before hand?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

It was made before he entered the picture at all. His bass is one of the prototypes, he thought it was fine as it was.

ahh, cool. Well it was one thing i always was shocked about mm, the way there was no 6 stringers. Was gonna get the auld myung for a 6 string to have lying around...and to tell the truth i prob still will haha. MM are just so expensive. Im seriouslythinking about getting that one from chris and selling mine. I do miss that low b :( .

I've actually played one myself, and quite honestly, it was one of the best basses I've ever layed my hands on. They go fairly cheap second hand as well, so if you do get a chance to nab one, I'd say snap it up!

I got me the older sig, there's pics in the sticky at the top of the page. Amazing bass! Haven't played the newer one though.

There's about a kilo of man gunk on that fretboard. If one of ye go for it, make sure you get Chris to clean the ****er up before he sends it and save on postage :p Those red strings are wack too :D

I've never been mad on the SR5. The pickguard is just too huge, it seems like it takes up about 3/4 of the surface area. Way too much plastic up front there.

That being said, this was was posted on talkbass last week and it's better than average.

Yeah, I never really liked the SR5's looks. Only one I liked was one just like that, except with a black pickup cover and pickguard. Friend of mine has an SR5 SUB... but it's f*cking weird in that it's the exact same as an SR4, but with an extra string... Much better looking.

Actually I forgot about this, I was very tempted when I saw it. I've got a new bass in the works in a similar colour.

As for my avatar, I ain't changing that. It actually looks like me. LOL :D
