Burning it onto a CD and posting it would probably be faster.

    +1

Uploading a file that size would take some time....

What if he needs the video to stay at it's current quality?

The video would likely already be pretty well compressed, so archiving the file would have a near non-impact.

Unless the OP's working for RTE, I imagine the loss in quality would more than make up for the utility of being able to actually transmit the file using Ireland's telecommunications system.

Setup and ftp server, use megaupload... theres 101 ways to do it..

On a 3mb connection (you get around 40K up) It will take around 5 hours to upload

multimedia files are already compressed - you can't losslessly compress them much further , you can apply lossy compression

try re-encoding in a different format - depending on the content / movement / panning and quality options it will probably get bigger

most zipping programs http://ww.7zip.org allow you to split the file into smaller chunks which can be re assebled at the far end

look on the bright side, in the old days you'd be looking for 1,944 5 1/4" floppy disks

just burn it to a cd, its your quickest option. As your home broadband probably isnt that fast.

oh yeah forgot to mention that
home broadband is usually much faster download than upload maybe 8 times
also a lot of upload sites could be throttled by you ISP too
