Broadworks

I've just been on the phone to Broadworks, enquiring about the packages they offer and the prices. The man on the phone was perhaps the most unhelpful person in the world. Told me the price (€23.50) and that that price was for 30 channels.

Would anybody happen to know which 30 these are likely to be? As he wouldn't elaborate anymore.

    Thanks

Trying to remember all of the channels I have (not sure how much these cost, I'm in a new development and haven't been charged yet) So lets soo, from memory..

    1. BBC 1
    2. BBC 2
    3. UTV
    4. CH 4
    5. RTE One
    6. RTE Two
    7. TV3
    8. Sky One
    9. Sky Two
    10. Sky Three
    11. Living
    12. ITV 2
    13. ITV 3 / C-ITV
    14. ITV 4
    15. Film 4
    16. Zone Reality
    17. Bubble Hits (IT RULES!) :)
    18. The Vault
    19. BBC Three / cBBC
    20. BBC 4 / C-beebies
    21. True Movies
    22. BBC News 24
    23. Setanta Ireland
    24. Sky Sports News
    25. Sky Sports 1
    26. Sky Sports 2
    27. Sky Sports 3
    28. Sky Sports Xtra
    29. TG4

And I can't think of the last station(s) I have tuned in.... I know there's 31 including all the Sports which aren't standard.

It's fair to say, the service is, at very best, average... They seem to take all the feeds off Sky Digital, and you see the EPG programme data appearing, channels change, the "Interactive" Red button appears on lots of stations and the Green "Set Reminder" button shows up too.

I tihnk that means they are feeding off a normal customer sky box.

    That sounds awful.

Well, like I said, the service is, at very best, average.

It's quite annoying the way the EPG stuff comes up alright, although generally this only happens late at night (well I presume, but then again, I work during the day so don't see it then), one thing that drives me mad is ITV4. There is subtitles constantly on. Good job I never watch it :)

Also, the audio is terrible. I watch my feed on a Sharp Aquos 20" LCD and you have to have the volume up full on some channels to hear them.

I haven't had any "major" issues with broadworks but I have noticed that occasionally channels disappear.

for example ITV4 has been MIA presumed fcuked for about 10 days now, just a black screen where it used to be. I haven't experienced any of the problems mentioned above but having to pay €60 a month for 30 channels rather than €52 a month for over 100 channels with Sky because of location issues pi$$es me off.

One thing I will say for them is I ordered on a Wed and on Fri I was installed and ready to go in 3 rooms in the house, and they take their DD on the same day every month (going bi-monthly from next month) so at least they're consistent and efficent.

I had BW in an apartment I rented for a while, basic TV pack was 30 quid or something which included 20 channels - some channels came up twice so 20 was a serious overstatement and like Lar, could see the Sky menu changing sometimes, other times a channel would disappear.

In a word, Broadworks is sh1te.

I would even suggest trying NTL over them (I would like to bomb NTL's HQ with the CEO inside) as I now have my own place and NTL was the provider included in fittings the apartment had.
