Broken Screen

    Hey folks,

Had a bit of an accident tonight. My laptop was on my table, and a little sculpture on the shelf above it fell on top of it due to my mistake. Now theres a crack running along the diaganol of the screen. Its not the crack that bothers me, the screen still works but theres some little and some big black blobs along this line, almost like ink. I know i probably cant fix it, but is there anything I can do to reduce the size of these?

And out of curiosity, how much money would I be looking at to get the screen fixed?

    Thanks,

    A very annoyed Archimedes

Nothing you can do to fix it, and it will get worse with use...

But replacement screens can be bought, usually for reasonable money on ebay, and there are lots of guides that show you have to fit it yourself, because getting a shop to do it will cost you crazy amounts of money..

    What laptop is it?

Buying a screen and fitting it yourself has its advantages if all works out well however it can be expensive if it dosent work out, you are stuck with two broken screens and a dud laptop. Laptops like any electronics are very sensative to static and can be damaged if not handled correctly. If the screen you get on Ebay is a dud or you make a mess of fitting it.

Iy you get it repaired by a PC repair outlet you pay over the odds unless you have contacts but at least it would be right unless its uneconomically viable to repair .

The alternative is to buy a new one and use this one as a secondary for the kids etc by linking it up to an external monitor.
