New Driver Help Please

    Hi Guys,

I need a new driver as my old one is dented and in fairly ragged condition. I can still hit alright but I reckon I am losing some distance off the tee. The driver I had at the moment is a Spalding one I got as part of a startrer kit from McGuirks.

Bought a King Cobra last year and it is no use to me. I resorted to fininshing off last year using a 4i off the tee with some success.

With my driver i tend to hit left to right with no major accuracy. I was thinking of one of those weighted clubs that I can adjust myself. Anyone know of a decent type with a cost of around 150.00. I am playing on Sunday and would like something for then to try.

If you're anywhere near Celbridge Driving Range, get yourself down there and try out a few clubs... For €150 you might be able to get a decent older Ping model or Callaway or any of the bigger names. If you're trading in a club or two you might be able to get something a bit more recent like a Ping G5 or Nike Sasquatch.

Try a few different ones out and see which suits you best.

Celbridge is not the only place you can do this but it's the only one I know of.

    Cheers Whip-it.

Went to the shop today and got a Big Bertha 460 Driver.
Took it to the range, pure quality. Got a regular shaft. I trAde in my cobra and got a few bob off it. Brought it down to e160.00 for the driver.

    Nice one for the input.

In my humble opinion (not aimed at you)....if you struggle with any driver (apart from weird ones) then I'd suggest you shouldn't use one but get a 5 wood or a hybrid.

Just make sure any driver you buy conforms with the list of approved drivers.

Your pro will be able to tell you, but i would imagine that a lot of the illegal stuff could be sold (not by reputable people) to beginners for knock down prices.
