Dumbbell Squat Press

I don't have room to squat with my Olympic bar and the few times I've tried i can really feel it working my back and front trying to stabilise - I'm worried that I'm not developing my muscles in a balanced way and need to integrate some kind of squatting (lunges seem to be a poor substitute)

I found this on YouTube, I've variable weight dumbbells so can really ramp up the weights as needed, just need to find a dumbbell equivalent of an overhead squat (which is what I want to emulate right now)

Opinions, any better demonstrations, suggestions ?

I dunno what you would back squat. I find the real limiting factor of dumbell squats was their physical size. i.e. I was using 10kg plates which are big and ended up hitting my legs. With 5kg plates I might get 20kg on each dumbbell but that is still fairly light. I could only do a fraction of the weight in the way that video shows, compared to a back squat, so I imagine it would not be hitting the legs as much at all.

Maybe you could try single leg squats with dumbbells or Bulgarian split squats.

Luckily I got these bad boys from Mick so lightness isnt a limiting factor for me (given that I can only bench 67.5kg so far)

Those looks pretty rough, I like!, I will certainly give them a try.

I'd really like some overhead stuff though as the stabilisation in the trunk that needs should really pump the muscles and hopefully get the endorphins flowing!

they are called dumbell thrusters and they rock. I would generally do it with an arnold press variation though

I got the 20kg plates off Mickk, they are great with the handles since you can hold them at your sides for squats. One trick is to put a 10/20/10kg on a dumbbell, just on one side. Now you can pick it up with the empty side sticking outwards from you, now the weights are nice and flush to your side.
