It should work ok but you need to edit the settings and setup the wii with an IP address of your internet etc. I use the wifi on it myself and its pretty good. The classic games are great and there's a few more good ones that where added recently. :)

hi there what type of wifi do i need and if i stick the modem into the wii will i use the wii set up for the ip address ? thanks

If your using the lan adapter as you mentioned above you won't be using wifi (wireless). Check your wii manual on how to setup the IP address to use dhcp (automatic address).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Wii wouldn't be able to use this USB modem unless it is connected to a PC/laptop with the signal sent out over a Ad-hoc wifi network?

Afaik, those 3g modems are configured to use an automatic address, thats why I suggest the OP check his settings on the wii to make sure its using dchp. Its probably getting a little technical now, but if you check your manual you will see how to set the options.

The SSID is the name of your wireless network. The wii should pick that up when it searches for networks.

If not, check your internet settings. Type the address of your modem/router into your address bar - It's probably something along the lines of 192.168.1.1 or similar (google it). There should be a 'security' link somewhere on the page, click that and you'll find what your ssid is. You'll get your WEP key there too which you'll more than likely need as well.

    Hope that makes sense :)

I have Imagine broadband on a stationary pc, what do i need to do to get in on the wii aswell?

Am i right in that i need a "nintendo wifi usb connector", if so where do i get em cheapest? Gamestop was €45.

    Will any "usb connector" do?

will this work for a DS aswell?

Which of these would be best value for money, do they all work?

I have a cable modem (NTL) and a seperate ADSL wireless modem router - should it be possible to setup a wireless network using these to get the WII connected??

Here is a guide that I found to setup wireless access for the Wii. It is also possible to use a cable connection direct to your router. More info on setting up internet access for your Wii here, of course this is all explained in the manual. ;)
