LasEK for the second time!

    Hi all...

I got lasEK done back last April... All went well however my right eye have now deteriorated to a -0.5 presciption... So they are gonna do it again, just on my right eye. My left eye is at -0.25 which is fine...

Anyone here got it done the second time? I had no problems the first time, wasn't particularily nervous (although I think I may be more nervous this time as I know what to expect even though i found it fine the last time - wierd I know) Anyway, I had, and will be having again, thew wavefront.

Guy I was talking to in the place said there are no other complications or anything regards getting it done the second time - same as the first time. So fingers crossed it will all go ok...

Just wondering if m/any other people have got it done a second time on one/both eyes? I wasn't really given a reason for the detioration (although io didn't ask) but Im wondering if maybe there is any point getting it done again! Or will I be in the same position again this time next year! Or will my left eye need to be done.... Sigh...

Any experoences of the 2nd time results out there?

I got both my eyes done last April also. And had to go back and get one of them done a second time due to deterioration of my sight. This was about 6 months after the original op. It was easier the second time as they didn't have to cut a new flap, they just lifted the old one. Whether or not it'll be the same for you after nearly a year, I don't know.

In the meantime the sight in my second eye has deteriorated. I can't get an op on that for other reasons though.

Do you mind me asking what age bracket you guys are in? I want to get wavefront and I'm suitable but my eyes are going at about -.75/year I'm 23 and I dont want to have to get it done twice so I'm hoping over the next 2 years it settles down!

24 when I got them done. But my prescription had well settled down at that stage.

The second time you get it done is free by the way. Its a top up more than full surgery for a second time.

Slightly off topic here but how much does it cost to get it done and can u still claim a percentage back in tax or something ?

Hey, thanks for thta. When you got it done the second time, is the sight in that eye perfect now? Like it worked ok the second time, without deteriorating again???? That swhat Im worried about (well, not actually worried, just wondering really!)

Im 21, nearly 22. I got it done for my 21st birthday (parents paid for it as my present) Ah, it cost around €2,700 (ish) I think (I got a bit of a discount cos my clinic had a deal for VHI members) That was for the wavefront lasEK (btw, It costs the same for EK and IK)You can claim back on tax (at the end of the year) so my Dad got back (well, is in the process of) getting back 42% :D
