Aperture or Lightroom

Whaddya think? I was just playing around with iPhoto and Photoshop on my Macbook for the last coupla weeks, and I randomly downloaded a trial version of Aperture 2.0 a few days ago. I love it - it's like a cross between Picassa and Photoshop, exactly what I needed to organise my photos.

Looking around online though it seems Lightroom is more well received, and certainly more widely used. Is there a major reason for this? The claim was that Aperture 1.x was very slow but it runs fine on my machine now.

I've read reviews saying that the presets on Aperture are crap.

The interface is great though. I took one look at the Lightroom interface and ran away. Should I give Lightroom another whack? Is it that much better?

What do you use, and why?

Never used Aperture, but heard that people didn't like the way it completely took control of organising the location of your files, and that it was slow.

I use Lightroom myself. It is also slow (though they have improved it since the Beta, which was slow beyond a joke) and I find it quite flexible in relation to setting up folders and stuff. TBH it needs a bit of work to get to best out of if, the interface is a bit funny. Doing things one way that would make sense doesn't work, you need to do it the "Lightroom" way. once you learn that it is fine, but you need to learn it first.

Don't have a Mac so can't really say about Aperture, but Lightroom is good if you invest time learning to use it properly.
