Can anybody recommend a decent laser sight or optic rig for the galaxy mp5 dont want to spend a fortune but would like something more accurate than the iron sights that are on it. For that matter does HRTA allow laser dot sights? Any ideas or suggestions

Laser sights are not permitted in the Republic of Ireland since they fall under real gun parts. Red dot sights are fine though.

Here's a mounting base that works on the MP series

I think there are cheaper ones available on rsov , if 28 plus shipping seems steep.

Ehobby seem to have a limited range of these, rsov may be pricey for one item on shipping so if you buy from them get a red dot sight with it.

The one above may well be your man.

I picked up an MP5 rail here for just over €7 inc shipping.
    (It'll also fit a G3).

It's a low profile mount and not the same as the one Fiach posted
    but it's a lot cheaper.

is there any of the Irish crowds (Eirsoft and MIA for example)that do decent ones. I only have internet access in work and all their sites are blocked (damn you ICT) I think im getting slightly confused with terms. Between laser sights dot sights and scopes that have a dot in the reticle but dont project a beam. Can someone clarify this for me in terms of terminology.

Lasers: Project a beam = ILLEGAL
Red Dots(not always red): Piece of glass with a dot projected on it, but no further.
Illuminated scopes: I think they are the same as red dots.

    Lethal

I've also used the same place for M4 handle sight mounts, 20mm rails, mounted lights and a few other parts as well. The quality was surprisingly good - the price was amazing (includes free worldwide shipping) and the service is excellent with great comms and detailed tracking numbers etc...

You have a JG SVD don't you Fiach? Was contemplating getting one but i dunno if it would work in a sniper role due to noise from the motor also i think the reciever would annoy me as i love the look of RS versions  Recommend that or just save up and get a proper SVD?

Yeah I have one but it's minus it's outer barrel which I removed and chopped down for my RPK74. It's not a bad AEG but if you really want an accurate SVD then save up for one of the springers, that's what I'm doing myself.

A laser projects a beam that other people can see, a red dot sight shows you, the shooter, the red dot but it does not project an image that can be seen by anyone, an illuminated scope is a scope that has an illuminated reticule that only the shooter can see, it helps in low light to define the centre of the reticule, or cross hair, the law states in this country that you cannot use any type of device or scope that enhances or illuminates a target, that also includes a night vision scope.
These items are only illegal if on an item that fires a projectile.
