    Good evening ladies and gents!

Welp after sleeping through the clock yesterday I made myself get up this morning. Up and out the door by 6am. Here's what I came across on my hunt.
I'd love to hear your opinions :)

(p.s. apologies for the watermark on the 2nd shot, still undecided whether to buy the program or not :) )

Few shots are really nice, especially the second one.
Where abouts did you take these pics?

    Thanks Sasar.

The second shot is the run in to Jacksons (pix3). Lovely spot if your into Kayaking. It is at the back of Lynhams Hotel in Laragh, Wicklow :) The other two were taken around Wicklow.

the first one is lovely but i cant help being distracted by the branches, as the shore leads your eye brilliantly into the photo it gets lost when you hit the branches. Still lovely work.

Fine shots. Well worth getting up early for.

    Thanks folks!

Oh and the last shot was straight from the camera, nothing done in photoshop except converting from raw ;)

I like the last one, I've been trying to do similar stuff myself but can never get the settings just right - what did you have?

longish shutter speed and zoomed in or out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,057 ✭✭✭kjt

    Hey Hussey,
It was taken with a 30D and 17-85mm.
    Shutter - 1/50sec
    Ap - F/5.6
    ISO 100
I was fully zoomed in to start and then a really quick zoom out.

This is what the road looked like without the zooming :)

    I really like 1 and 3.
I'd have moved the stick at the bottom of #1 though!

Great work for that ungodly hour. :)

I love 1 & 4, the colours in the sky on 1 are amazing, I could look at it for a long time. Love the road one, I have tried the zoom technique a few times but you got great results. well done.

    1 and 2 are great..... 2 especially...

    1) Lovely exposure, but I'd crop out most of the foreground, up to almost where the shore and water meet. Oh and clone out that branch!
    2) Beautiful scene and I love the rays, but again the HDR seems to have robbed it of it's contrast - the whole scene looks a bit washed out

Hope the weather is kind this weekend - it's the first time in ages that I have a chance to do an early morn trip

    Really the Photomatix one.

The third one for me. Very very nice.
A slower shutter speed version would have been really nice - the colours are amazing

About the 4th one - were u in a car with some one or did you get that effect by doing a really fast zoom (at 1/50 it must have been a fast zoom! - did u have many duds trying?:))

    Cheers buddy!

I really like your sunset shot.
Yea I had about 5/6 other shots that didn't turn out as well as the one posted above. I'm still not 100% happy with it but I'll head back to the same place another day and try focus better :)

EDIT: Oh I was on the side of the road with a tripod, no car used.
