Wii drive problems

Recently I noticed my wii is leaving a ring mark on the outer edges of my discs. It's a launch wii so unfortunately the warranty is up. I have tried standing it on it's side as it was always lying flat but it is still leaving a mark but not as bad.

I took the drive apart and could find nothing that may be rubbing off the discs so if anyone has any suggestions or knows anyone that can repair such things let me know.

    Thanks
    Richie

I know the warranty is up but I'd still try nintendo, tell them you'd be willing to pay for a repair. I have never dealt with them but they seem like a good company for customer service....*unlike MicroScum*

    Your warranty ISN'T up :)

Nintendo have a 2 year warranty. The first year is with the retailer, the second with Nintendo themselves. Give them a call and see what they say. Nintendo are by far the best out of Sony/MS/Nintendo for returns and honouring their warranties.

Microsoft have top notch customer service. If you have a bad experience with them, then it's likely that you either are very very unlucky, aren't covered by your warranty by messing with what you shouldn't, or are going about it the wrong way. Take your pick.

i have a wii and a ps3 (never had hassle with either) my bro has a launch 360 and he had problems with the drive. i rang the microsoft help and they sent UPS to collect the console, brought it to germany, replaced the drive and got UPS to bring it back.

so i have to say that the service from Microsoft is great.

I'm having a huge problem with them at the moment (another thread for another forum).

Seeing as you took the drive apart OP i'd say your warranty with nintendo is out the window

The warranty is well gone, I've had it open a few times, I like to tinker around with these things. I did notice some wii drives on ebay but the price is fairly steep at 110euro delivered.

    Thanks for all your input

Mine got picked up by nintendo on Tuesday. Drive just wont read disks.
I have had it for 14 months and told nintendo that on the phone. All they said they wanted was a brief description of the fault put in the box with the machine. They didnt even ask for a recipt.
A friend across the road has had hers for 10 months and now has the same problem as mine. Hers is being picked up on monday. The drive problems only seem to have started happening since the last software upgrade. I wonder what they have done?

My Wii died tonight first it would not read the disc that was in it when i ejected the disc it made a lot of noise and then cut out .

After a few attempts it ejected the disc which has a fair amount of damage.
It has some bad scrathes on it .Would i have any luck getting a new disc (it was Wii fit) from nintendo?

When i put a disc into it it just comes up with black screen with a message to eject disc and contact customer service .

DTS have you got yours back yet ?

Anybody else know how long nintendo are taking to repair consoles?

My Wii is modified for 12 months now but recently the drive won't read disc's and it is a job trying to get them to eject but eventually they do eject.

Any ideas on how to get the drive fixed ?
The Wii is working, you can see the menu on the TV.

New wii drive bout 30 euro http://cgi.ebay.ie/DVD-Drive-Replacement-Nintendo-WII-DVD-ROM-/180508759321?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_VideoGames_VideoGameAccessories_VideoGameAccessories_JN&hash=item2a07291519
Or if you want since its modded you could look into ripping your discs and running it from a usb harddrive.
Sorry if mentioning that is against the rules feel free to edit it mods
