What are good discount cards to have if you're hostelling around the world? I'm 24 & not a student. Is there an ISIC card for people who aren't students? What about Hostelling International Card? Is this good? Can they save you money on flights?

You can get the international youth card from usit. while the discounts aren't as good as the student one, you can still save some euro's here and there such as entry into places, buses, flights, accommodation. But a lot of places will insist they need to see an ISIC card instead

the Hostelling International mebership allows you to get hostels at member rates. you save about 2 or 3 euro i think.

i don't know of a card that saves you huge amount of money. i had an ISIC one before and i didn't save that much.

a lot of other countries will only accept the ISIC card. (what is commonly called a usit card over here). So that's the best one to go for i reckon.

Not a card but the hostelworld.com site has a gold member option where the $2 booking fee is waived on the booking. The site makes for easy booking of hostels in advance and avail of special rates the hostels may have.
When I signed up for it a year or so ago, it was free to irish residents, there probably is a charge now.

Only use hostelworld to check reviews. When you want to book a hostel, just google the name and contact them directly. Saves you paying the extra few euros commission!

Have a look and see for yourself ;)

I used it in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Between that and Lonely Planet we got great places to stay.

If you're going interrailing i'd say to get a card, the one in the usit office was somehting like 20€, i had the money then but said feic that 'cause i could think of better things to do €20!

Regretted it later on when i was short of money!!
