Microsoft Office - Outlook Address Book.

I just sent an email to a load of clients using the Bcc (i.e. hiding the addresses from each recipient) feature.

Clicking on Cc opened the Contacts book and I scrolled down through it choosing those I wanted to receive the message. All very well and good.

However, some people that I email regularly did not appear on the list. i.e. People for whom I only have to type the first two letters of their name in the address bar and their full email address appears.

I thought that if I sent an email to someone their address was automatically added to my Address Book?

If this is not the case by default, is there a setting I can change to make it happen?

    Many thanks.

    D.

    Doesn't appear to be possible.

The closest you have is right-clicking on any sender and choosing "Add to contacts".

I guess it makes sense that people wouldn't be added to your address book. You'd have tonnes of lists and nonsensical addresses in there.

No, I've never seen this setup anywhere. When you send an email to someone, the address is added to the Most Recently Used addresses list (which I've never been able to locate in the registry or any other file) so that when you send them a second email, it 'remembers' the email address from the last time.

But the best way of guaranteeing that they will always be remember as a contact is to right-click on their email address and select "Add To Contacts". It might seem like a pain now, but you will only ever have to do this once.

And it means in future if your PC is formatted or the PST file is moved to a different PC, you would still have you proper list of Contacts.

I think it's an "Add On" that you have to purchase:
