... In another thread, photography related, I explained why some of my pics were poorly post processed as my pc gave up the ghost after 14 months.

It was a Dell XPS 210, a lovely neat powerful box. In fairness to them, they decided to swap out the system for a new PC. I'd had problems with the 210 since day one.

Now the new system arrived today and I've a big problem, it's proportions are huge and is not suitable for the only spot we have to site it.

    Here are the specs:

    XPS 420 Viiv E6550 Core 2 Duo Processor 2.33GHz, 1333Mhz FSB, 4MB cache
    XPS 420 Resource DVD 340-14832
English - XPS 420 System Docs (UK power cord) 340-14835
    Memory 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 667MHz [2x1024MB] Memory 370-13018
    19-in-1 Media Card Reader 385-10555
Hard Drive 250GB Serial ATA non Raid (7200 Rpm) 400-13925
    16X DVD+/-RW 429-12775
    Roxio Premium 9.1 429-12780
    Display : Not Included 480-10940
    Video Card 256MB ATI Radeon 2600XT 490-10717
Enhanced Integrated Audio Software for VISTA ONLY 510-10185
    Speakers Not Included 520-10217
    Modem Cable(RJ11)- IRE/SPN 530-11489
Modem Internal V.92 PCI (Data, Fax) 530-11572
    Mouse Not Included 570-10031
    Keyboard Not Included 580-10211
    English Windows Vista Ultimate 619-11987
English Microsoft Works 8.0 (Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Outlook Express, Powerpoint Viewer) (With Recovery CD) 630-10933
English Adobe Reader 7.0.8 (No Recovery CD) 640-10399
    Dell Support 3.4 640-10554
    English Antivirus McAfee 9.0 - 3 Yrs Subscription 650-10764
Base Warranty - 1 Year XPS Premium Hardware Support (incl. Gaming and On-Site Support) 754-11096
3 Year Consumer XPS Premium Hardware Support 754-11108

So what do I do? There is no refund on the cards and I'm not going to use it and it remains sealed and unused.

    sell it?

or else buy a smaller case and re-build the pc into it.

Sell it and buy an iMac like you should have done in the first place :)

Looks like a very nice (if large) box.

Try selling it on adverts or something. I'd say it's worth about €1,000 brand new (from Dell).

The problem with Dell is that the boards don't always fit easy in to non-Dell cases.

So, sell the box and buy a new Dell system.

The latter would invalidate the 3 year extended warranty and I can't see someone buying a €1200 pc unless there is a huge discount.
