    "Fundraising Concert"

    Damien Dempsey and Guests

Concert in aid of the Rehabilitative Training Unit (RTU)

The Rehabilitative Training Unit is situated at the National Rehabilitation Hospital which is the national centre for primary rehabilitation for adults and children, serving patients locally and from all over the country. The hospital includes the National Spinal Injury, Prosthetic and Brain Injury Rehabilitation services as well as a children’s service.
The Rehabilitative Training Unit caters for a wide variety of people with brain injury who have acquired their injury from physical trauma (road traffic accidents, drug related accidents, assault, workplace incidents, falls), brain hemorrhages, strokes, tumours, anoxia and infections. All brain injuries can be extremely serious and each injury is unique and so outcomes are varied and complex. People, who have survived, commonly have symptoms such as poor concentration, planning, attention, memory, communicating, reasoning, fatigue, mobility, physical and sensory disabilities.
This is a vocational programme which helps people to reach their goals of returning to work, further education or independent living. The proceeds of this benefit concert will go towards purchasing a much needed minibus for outings.
