Pulsar golf trolley battery.

I know a few of us bought these trolleys in Golfworks at the same time, about a year ago. Just wondering has anybody had to replace a battery yet?

I got around 15 holes yesterday then mine just died on me. I could hear a faint hum and feel a bit of a buzz through the handle but there was practically no drive. It was left off for a few minutes while we did our thing on the green and started ok but died again very quickly. I'm presuming the battery is the culprit but I'm disappointed it only lasted a year, given that I only play about once a fortnight averaged over the year.

When it's not in use I leave the battery plugged into the charger. Does that make any difference?

I have mine a little longer than you Milltown and I play about the same amount - my battery seems fine so far...

    What's the warranty on them?

I bought my pulsar in golfworks in 2006. It's the older sort with the skinny battery (about 8cm wide). The gear-box went on mine and I don't intend to get it fixed. If the battery matches yours you're welcome to it. When last used I could get 18+ holes.

Very kind of you Obni. I'll get a picture of the connector posted up and see if we have a match.
    Thanks.

The connectors can be changed from your old battery if you can support the battery

Yeah, I actually unzipped the battery cover for the first time just the other day to make sure the connections were good and noticed they were bolted on. I'm sure I've seen other trolleys where the connections were soldered onto the battery, and thought these would be the same.

It lasted a full round of Rathcore the other day with no problems so maybe it just hadn't charged properly that one time.

Obni, if your battery is only going to waste I wouldn't mind having a spare. If you want to get rid for a few quid or a bottle or two of wine or something, drop me a PM.

It's still in great nick! We were supposed to play there on Monday but after hanging around for over an hour waiting to see if it would thaw we ended up down the road in Knockanally. We would have been better off going home! Only one temp green but the whole place looked like it hadn't seen a mower in a good few days.

Got away in Rathcore on Thursday though and, with an open fairways card, I think it's pretty unbeatable for the money. We were there a few weeks ago, during the constant rain and while it was still playing well we wondered if they'd risk opening it if they were getting more golfers through the place. The other day it was brilliant, especially considering the rain and frost of the past few weeks. A bit of run on the fairways and the greens were very true, once you hit them (it was v.windy!).

I have a Pulsar and the battery only lasted me about 18 months.

Now but the casting for the seat snapped.

I see that Golfworks in Dundrum is closed.

    Can parts be bought direct?

I believe Eurobatteries in Glasnevin are good value. The small battery will only last about 18 months max. Its best to keep them on charge when not in use.

The plastics parts are not treated and will break with time. Parts are difficult to find.

My dads battery was poor at the weekend. We had noticed it going for a while but it was particularly bad this weekend. Upon inspection of the cables on the battery it was noticed that they were bout to break off. He brought it into the pro shop to see if there could be anything done and it was just a case of replacing the cables at a cost of 7 euro. Its like a new battery now, back to its original state.

when he bought it he was advised to leave it plugged in all the time between rounds. It is no harm though now and again to put the trolly up on a biscuit tin and let the battery run out to flat. Then do a full charge. This will make sure that the Battery memory wont think that once it gets round 9 holes that it needs a charge and pack up!

Did anyone manage to get a replacement - mine is about 2 1/2 years old and I'm only getting about eight holes out of it

I've searched on the forum and tried a couple of the numbers but no luck and don't want to have to buy a new trolley..

I just got a new battery from Europower Battery Centre in Glasnevin Tel: 8300884. Its a larger battery and cost €99. They were recommended to me by an engineering golfing friend who would know about these things.
They specialise in all batteries and the guy the runs it is a member of Black Bush so he understands what's needed. I played Friday. Sat & Sunday and the relief of it lasting 18 holes was great.
I had checked around and could not find better value.
If you bring along the old unit, they will change over the connectors.

Excellent - will drop over there at the weekend and pick one up - cheers

Check their opening hours as its more a business than a shop.
    Their website is www.europower.ie

A new battery will give "More power to your elbow"

On your advise I bought a powacaddy battery and a pulsar one this morning in Eurobatteries. It's a tough place to find and the really nice guy isn't good at giving directions (I'm a girl), and i had to bring them a packet of biscuits - advisable if you are going there around lunch time! 70 E for the pulsar and 100 for the powacaddy one.

Had same problem, couldn't get 18 holes from Pulsar and if it did make it to 18, dead slow.

Replaced connectors and fitted a bigger battery, plate design holds it perfectly. Since then, no probs - apart from driving, general iron play and putting!
