No idea what you are talking about.

What do you mean by a plug-in adaptor? What service are you referring to?

I think he may mean connecting the laptop to the router along with his pc so he has internet on both.
Can you tell us what router you have OP, what you mean by connecter and if i'm right about what you want to do.

Ok, so I think we have clarified that we need more info. :D

. . not au fait with the technology - when I connect the Netgear router the DSL indicator on the Creative router starts blinking. The latter should be lit constantly. UTV tech support suggest that the Netgear router may be faulty; I doubt that. I have restored connection to the PC now. Been trying to kickstart wifi since Christmas to no avail! Frustration reigns.

Do you mean a modem and a router? A modem supplied by UTV and your own router?

. . the answer to the 2nd Question - YES

Ok, still not fully clear. I wasn't aware Creative made routers - a quick scoot through their website suggests they don't.

Can you list out exactly what you have? Full details, including make/model number and how they are connected. DO NOT SKIMP ON DETAIL. :)

. . thank you for your encouragement, Tom.
I have disconnected the Netgear ADSL Modem Wireless Router now; I was getting nowhere.
The connections to the PC are 1) DC power, 2) phone line thro' DSL filter, 3) from ethernet socket on Creative broadband blaster router to a PC socket which shows a phone with a bar thro' it.
As well as all the cabling I think I need to enable wifi, I have a Netgear Wireless USB2.0 Adapter, which can be plugged into the Asus.
    Q. Where do I go from here?

You should have an ethernet cable going from the computer to the modem. You should also have an rj11 (phone line cable) going from the modem to the phone socket in your house. This will give the computer connected through the ethernet access to the internet

    Your setup should be:

Phone Line (with phone cable)----> DSL modem (ethernet cable) ----> PC

    along with

    DSL modem (2nd ethernet cable)
    > laptop

The phone line should not be going into the PC, the network connection should be coming in through the ethernet cable.

Forget about wireless until you get the wired connections working.
