Is there a separate forum for scams? If not, there should be.

Anywho, I got this email supposedly from paypal. Anyone know if this is some sort of elaborate scam. I didn't sign up for a 'language test'...whoever wrote the email may need a language test.

    Hello ******,

I have tried to contact you on your mobile, but I presume you are engaged.

As agreed I have arranged your language test for today,13/02/2008 between 1.30 and 2 .You will be called on the telephone/mobile number you entered into our database. The language test will take around 15 minutes to complete. We would advise you to be in a location with little background noise and a good telephone connection when you take the language test.

We contact you as soon as possible regarding your results to discuss the further process

I haven't applied for any jobs. Strange they gave a Dublin phone no. Might give it a ring...

Did you try the phone number to see whose it is?

If they ring you ask what the hell they are talking about, otherwise don't worry too much about it. It's not like they asked for any personal details in the mail is it? I have never heard of a paypal language test, but who knows, maybe they had a typo in an email address and it went to you instead of someone they are interviewing for a call centre job?

Not relevant to the OP but ebay related the the Register. Funny auction someone put up inviting people to scam him and telling them how.

EDIT: TO the OP, if anyone rings don't give annnnny personal information.

Yeah, probably being a bit paranoid of 'the internet'. I can just imagine them calling and trying to hypnotise me down the phone. "You are feeling sleepy. What are you're bank details?"

Why not scam them by passing their language test with flying colours and wangling a high-power job that you didn't even apply for?

I got a few emails that were saying they're from ebay. The site it links to is a copy of the ebay front page except the url is just an ip address. Not something you'd want to put your ebay username and password into...

Love the way boards.ie blocks out usernames and passwords, providing you use the following format:

    Username: xxxxxxxx
    Password: xxxxxxx

Try it with your ebay details!

That looks more like an email to do with a job application. Have you applied for any jobs with Ebay or Paypal ??

If a mod edits your post, they can probably see what you've typed in. So be careful. ;)
