I am currently trying to organize the wine for my wedding and I have two questions.

1: Bearing in mind it is an average crowd (mixture of all ages) how much wine should I allow for 200 people(i.e. no. of bottles) ?
2: Does anyone have any tips on where to get good value on buying wine in bulk like this ?

    Thanks in advance.

Would an average of half a bottle per person sound about right? That should be three glasses each - without taking into account the people who don't drink.

Ya that seems to be the ballpark figure a wine merchant mentioned to me the other day. I guess it depends on the crowd you have. Sounds like a sensible guideline with perhaps a few extra bottles for contingency on top of that.

Hole in the Wall restaurant/pub have a wine shop that does deals on larger quantities. Was there for lunch on sunday and had a look.

For our wedding the hotel told us 100 bottles should be more than enough for 300 people. 1 bottle per 3 people was established by saying that 1 in 4 won't drink wine. and there are approx 3 glasses per bottle.

    Regards
