Hello, I've been using maximuscles progain for the last few of weeks and find it very good as I've put on nearly a stone in that time. But now unfortunately I am not in the position to be spending 50euro a tub every month. My question is, is there any other protein supplement that has the same effects and results as the progain for a cheaper and a bigger tub if possible? Any help greatly appriciated!

I tried Progain and wasn't able to drink it. It tasted awful.

I bought MassX (65euro for 4kg tub) and it tastes much better.

Much cheaper too than the progain (45e for 1.2kg)

There's lots of decent protein and weight gainers. Optimum nutrition is good, tastes really great and isn't over priced like the maximuscle stuff.

Is there much difference between maximuscle progain and nutrition-x mass-x, beacause i thing the servings are bigger in mass-x so it makes no difference. Is this right please let me know because I am also trying to decided which weight gainer to buy.

    BEst advice I can give:

MassX tastes 10 times better than progain. Cheaper too AFAIK.

Although I'm unable to comment on the quality of it as I'm no expert on supplements by any means.

Two phases during my life I was big into weights.

When I took progain only, I got big pretty fast.

When I took promax and some creatine mixture only, I got hardly any results.

For some reason my body really liked progain.

What I'm trying to say OP is... maybe stick with the progain if it's working.

    You're always plugging NutritionX :D,
I seem to remember you being an ad for them in the KYN thread.

That said OP, I bought MassX on Hanley's reccomendation and it's doing very well for me so far. (I'll use this oppurtunity to say thanks to Hanley)

Haha yes, I did appear in an ad for NutX, and I did receive a one-time only gift of some free supplements for it. It should be noted that prior to and after that I spent, and still spend my own money on buying them. I believe that they are the best available at the moment, they're resonably priced and it's a good way to support Irish industry.

I have just purchased a 10LB tub of Mass-x from pro-nutrition. I see that the serving scoop is very big and two of these are required for 1 serving.

My question is, how many times a day would I need to take this to make some reasonable gains.

I'm 5' 10", 83KG. I'm looking to put on some muscle mass, and loose a small bit of body fat, not much just a percentage or two. I am also taking creatine once a day. I completed the loading phase last week.

For most gainers i prefer to half the servings and take in between meals if i am looking to up my calories.

One full serving can be a lot at times!

Whats your current calorie and macronutrient intake and how many extra calories are you looking for?

I haven't gone through my calorie intake to be honest.

Sorry for my ignorance but, what's "macronutrient"?

    macronutrient: protein, fat, carbohydrate.
    micronutrient: vitamins and minerals.

Baldie, tbh you need to look at you the kcals you're taking in versus what you need. You might be surprised how low they are.
