Why would the doll need to be haunted? Lots of people believe ghosts can move things around, perhaps one of the ghosts you believe haunt the house was moving things around, including the doll.

If a house can be haunted, why not a doll?

People not only believe in all sorts of things but can also convince themselves of all sorts of things, and I'd have thought a haunted doll was not that unusual by comparison to other beliefs.

Ever see those wonderful old and scary victorian dolls that used to be on display in Dublin's National museaum?

Destitute victorian parents clipped the hair from their dead children and the hair was used in many Victorian dolls, no wonder they can be Spooky!

Most of these dolls hair was inserted by small fingered, ideal for the job child labourer's

Yes it is possible but not likely probable.

My sister had a huge big freaky doll, one of it's eyes only opened up halfway, it was so freaky that we use to have it facing the wall in much the same way as in the end of the blair witch.

But that was all, it never did anything
