Silver Clay

Silver Clay was invented in the early 90s and yes, the name is literal - silver clay is clay that is actually made up of silver. Often better known by the two brand names available, PMC (Precious metal clay) or Artclay, silver clay can be worked with, molded, even thrown on a potters wheel like any other kind of clay but when you fire it (and you can do this at home if you have a chef's torch or a gas hob) it turns into 99% fine silver that can be hallmarked as such.

    I think it's magical!

It's also great fun and you don't need any experience with anything to make your own jewellery on the day.

Anyway, I hope that this doesn't sound like too much of an ad because I'm not going to make any money from this, but I'm organizing a silver clay workshop in Dun Laoghaire on the 28th of Feb - this is a unique opportunity to learn from one of the world's biggest names in metal clay, Sherri Haab.
She'll be showing her new technique or image transfer, i.e. how to make a silver piece and then transfer a picture on top. See her website here: www.sherrihaab.com
She's doing a tour of the UK this month and will be in Ireland for one day only - if you're interested in attending, please PM me or email mairo98@hotmail.com.

Subject: Metal Clay image transfer workshop with Sherri Haab
    Location: Dun Laoghaire
    Time: 9.45am-4.30pm
    Date: Sunday 28th Feb
Cost: €180, (€100 deposit required to secure your space)
