I currently own 2 pistols and was thinking of getting a sniper rifle. I was wondering is there much of a difference between the range of a sniper rifle compared to a pistol? Any rifle I've looked at has a BB velocity approximatly the same as my pistols. Can anyone please advise ???

Not really. However you can tweek a sniper a little to get a couple of percent extra, but not much.

the only difference i would see would be accuracy
    and consistency

Its the barrel lenght that matters, sure, some pistols may have the same velocity, or even more than sniper rifles, but they have only got short barrels so lack accuracy big time! Think about it, the longer the barrel, the further the bb has to travel through it, thus setting it on a straighter path.

The max effective range you'll get out of a good pistol is about 70 feet. A good sniper rifle firing at the 1 joule mark should be accurate up to about 140 feet.
