I see an article in Jan Feb 08 CI magazine about a Rain Water Harvesting product . It seems to suggest that rain water may be harvested for more that just WC flushing and the garden . Anybody any experience good and of course , bad , to share ?

Seemingly you can get a farily substantial uv filter system that's connected to the rainwater harvesting system that treats the water, which could for consumption. As regards the quality of the water, it can't be any worse that some of the **** people have had to put up with from local authority supplies in the last year. Not sure of the running and maintaince costs associated with same.

The capital cost is the biggest drawback for rain water harvesting systems at the moment and possibly going forward until water rates are introduced. In saying that I would prefer to put the money into a rainwater harvesting system than landscaping if I was building a new house in the morning.
