    Hi,

Im looking to spend just under a grand on a new pc, i need it mainly for online poker, 14 tables at once (not sure how much resources that takes), a big itunes library, dvd backups, avi to dvd converts and stuff like that. I dont play games at all. Just wondering should i go to somewhere like hardwareversand or komplett and get them to build as good a pc as i can afford or should i just to dell and get a standard pc. Will i get something much better for the same price if i go to the aforementioned companies??? I want something pretty fast and that wont be completly ancient by christmas preferably.

    Thanks for any advice

It all depends on what you have already. If you have a monitor and peripherals already that saves about 2-3 hundred euro. You could easily go to Komplett and build yourself a PC for well under a grand to suit your needs. You want a large harddrive, lots of RAM and a quick processor.

    I'd recommend

    AMD X2 6000
    2GB DDR2 6400 RAM
    500GB SATA2 HDD
    ASUS motherboard
    Decent power supply 550W
    Windows Vista Home Premium

It all depends on if you want it for gaming AT ALL. If you think you'll ever want to play games you'll need a fairly good video card. All in all, I'd say Komplett is your friend. I can build it for you for a fee (part of my own business) PM if you have any further questions.

    http://www2.hardwareversand.de/7Vey-oSedxwW3U/1/pcconfigurator.jsp

    Which one is better??
Is there anywhere i should be spending more or less??
    Is there anything im forgetting??

Will these be able run a 22" 1920x1200 monitor??

    Thanks

To be honest, running a computer for purely online Poker is a crazy thing to do on a Windows Based PC.

Buy a Mac man, all the poker software is MAC compatible!!

Buy a base model iMac and buy 4GB Ram from overclockers for €75 and a 500GB Sata Drive from Kompeltt for €100.

And buy it from the Apple Education Store, 6% off and all you need is a School name and Location.

The only trouble with Mac is...they're Macs. Up to yourself. PC will run 99% of software.

Very Very true, its just such a relief though, not having to worry about viruses and having an AV Program eating your resources!!

The only problem i have with Macs is the price, everything else i love, you can always find a Mac Version of whatever software you want to run.
