You mean when he basically said "Ireland should play the Munster way" on a radio programme before the game yesterday?

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,676 ✭✭✭jayteecork

No, BOd stated that ROG said some very inspiring words when we went 26-6 down.
When the press asked BOD what exactly these words were, he refused to comment.

Probably something like Eddie and some of our Irish careers are over if we don't do something.

No, he said he gave a team talk the night before the game.

    Now i'm curious too. Damn.

    yeah, probably something like this

I asked the players to be honest and I thought we were honest yesterday. But now we need to kick on.

'At Munster I'm used to winning and I expected to beat France. We're sore at the result and a few of us are very disappointed.
I'm not content with a morale-boosting performance - I play sport to win.

'We're our own worst enemies at times because we need to start believing in ourselves.

'There are some quality players in the team. The potential is there, we just need to start believing in ourselves and kick on.'

Interesting slating of BOD here. What we were all thinking come the 80th minute
'We should never have let that ball go dead at the end. It was a bad mistake to make and showed inexperience.

'We had to keep hammering away because you are not going to score out wide on the last play of the game.

'We should have kept the ball in the forwards and stuck at it that way.'

inexperience? possibly reddan spreading it wide?

That was Murphy wasn't it? (though I initially thought it was BOD too). Any yes, it was stupid.

BOD was next in the line to murphy, iirc. Murph was the kicker though.

Given that he said the ball should not have gone wide and should have been kept in the forwards I think he means Reddan initially but when he says the ball should not have gone dead he must mean Murphy's ridiculous kick.So both of these are to blame in his opinion I would say.

I think he got a bit carried away. They were playing best part of third strength French team at the end (assuming Lievremont had played best players rather than players for next tournament). It's not necessarily that they tired but more their bodies weren't as developed imo particularly amongst the subs

Any chance ROG's supposed comments about playing the munster way were the beginning of player power aka England in the World Cup.
Maybe he has taken a page from his county's GAA players and is starting to demand that a proper coach is installed ;)

I am not allowed discuss …

personally i was hoping it was going to be one of those inspirational speaches that was colourfully decorted with swear words and spit in the POC fashion....not to worry. :(

I would however love to be a fly on the wall for this mornings meeting...

Lets face it, England and Wales are still going to bate em, Scotland match - toss a coin!!! Ireland were found out in the World Cup when Georgia played us off the park.

i think we can win all remaining games and with result or two going our way take the tournament! going to stick a tener on an irish triple crown later.

I think ROG must have been reffering to Reddan because of the use of the word 'inexperience' - hardly applies to BOD or Murphy.

yeah and 4 tries down the right wing, nothing done to shore it up,

does anyone else think a munster man should become captain, nothin against BOD but i just think he is being crippled with the captaincy and should be allowed to play his game

ROG all the way!! If we did not have him we would be compleatly screwed:mad: me thinks BOD is getting to be too much of a YES man! we do need a change badly!

    No.

We need someone who is captain material, that doesn't necessarily mean Munster man. O'Gara has often fallen short in games and just because he has somewhat redeemed himself since the World Cup does not make him decent captain material.

Paul O'Connel while able to give better motivational speeches than Brian O'Driscoll was often found wanting on the pitch at times when he was captain and I was one of the people who thought he'd be better able to lead than BOD. I was very disappointed with his performances in the role.

I sense O'Gara has changed due the responsibility he has been given at Munster despite being off form in the world cup. The faith that Kidney etc have shown in him.

    It really doesn't.

id say POC would do a good job, however his performances of late havent been of massive quality....he is very much an up and down player in a green shirt...one day he is worthy of legend, the next week he's nowhere to be seen.....id love to see wallace getting a shot, a player who rarely has a bad game for his country.

O'Connell has been quite poor as captain of Munster - regardless of his personal quality of play. O'Gara is doing well at the moment, though that coincided with Foley coming back into the side. Cullen would be a good candidate if in the side, but he is not obviously. There aren't exactly a lot of great options.
