think I know the full situation but just wondering if someone can clear this up for definate. as it stands there will be

2 teams automatically qualified for the group stages of the CL
2 teams getting into the pre-group stage knockouts of the CL
5th & 6th automatically getting into the Uefa cup
and the Winner of the FA & CC cups also in the Uefa cup

now here is where it gets interesting if Chelsea beat Spurs in the CC do the top 7 teams make europe? or do Spurs? (assuming Chelsea are top4)

if a top 6 team wins the FA cup do the runners up go into europe?
if both finalists are top6, does another european place get allocated by league finish?

if the runners up of the CC are Spurs and they dont get europe, and two top 6 teams contest the FA cup, do the top 8 in the league get europe?

if any of the big 4 win the CL does that alter anything?

and finally if Spurs or Everton win the Uefa cup does that affect anything i.e freeing up another Uefa spot for qualification via the league?

    Spurs.

    Yes

    Yes

Yes there is only three based on the league positions now.

    Not sure on that one.

Or at least so is my understanding of it all.

England has 7 spots for Europe. That won't change. They have 4 CL spots, and 3 UEFA spots. No combinations will change that.

That said you could qualify for the UEFA Cup by the Inter-Toto.

If somebody wins the CL, they will automatically qualify. If Liverpool win the CL and come 5th, but Everton come 4th, Everton will go into the UEFA Cup, Liverpool into the CL.

According to Wikipedia, in terms of the UEFA Cup:
If the previous UEFA Cup title-holders are not eligible to take part in either of the current UEFA club competitions (UEFA Champions League or UEFA Cup) by virtue of their domestic form, the UEFA Administration may, at the request of the association of the club concerned, admit this club to the current UEFA Cup competition. Its participation will not be at the expense of the contingent of its association.

But I know that's not true for the CL, so I'm not sure there :)

5th automatically qualifies for the Uefa Cup.
Usually 6th does too due to a top 4 team winning of the cups.

The league Cup UEFA spot is available to the winner only, subject to CL qualification. If the winner is in the CL then the UEFA spot goes to highest league position. So no route to UEFA for Spurs unless they win.

5th Automatic UEFA spot as EPL is member of UEFA
6th & 7th Places not used by FA Cup winner/runner-up or League cup winner.
8th UEFA spot possible due to EPL ranking within UEFA
    9th+
Fair Play Ranking (Man City 9th in 2003)
    Intertoto (Blackburn 10th 2006)
UEFA Cup Winners (Bolton 17th in 2008) :D
