Barrel length and twist rate?

    I was looking at 308 rifles from the Remington 22" barrel 1 in12 and Savage and thought the Savage 12 FVSS looked very good with 1 in 10 twist, 26 inch barrel.

    With the longer barrel and the higher muzzle velocity that they have which is better for accuracy using the same bullet type in a 26 inch barrel the 1 in 10 or 1 in 12 twist?
    And what relationship has the barrel lenght and the rate of twist have with each other and the accuracy?

    Thoughts on this please.

    Well tighter twist means heavier bullets can be used!
    26 inch barrel means faster bullet and in theory accuracy is better but by reputation remington make better barrels than savage. So its luck of the draw barrel wise.

    with the 26 inch barrel and faster twist you will be able to use the
    longest/heaviest bullets that are available f0r the 308-so it really depends on what bullet you plan on using-for my money i would be wanting the
    long/barrel and faster twist for target shooting-but if it was a rifle to be used solely for deer with mid range bullets then go for the shorter barrel /slower twist-and savage rifles are shooters:D
