Slayer's cover of Born to be wild is about the worst thing i can think of right now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,663 ✭✭✭✭Mental Mickey

I haven't heard it, but apparently, Deicide have done a cover of "Black Night".

    :eek::confused:

In Flames - Land of Confusion.

Had they done it 5 years earlier, it would have been a world beater, as it is, it makes Phil Collins sound decent.

Rubbish covers that don't do the originals justice:

Metallica - The entire garage inc album (Ok, this one's a given)
Slayer - Dissident Aggressor (Judas Priest, The only slayer album I own and I chose it just because this song was on it, terrible, terrible cover)
Nevermore - Love bites (Judas Priest)
Ozzy - All of the stuff of his cover album
Demons & Wizards - Immigrant Song (Led Zep)
Judas Priest - Johnny B. Goode (What the hell were they thinking?)
Metal Church - Toys in The Attic (Aerosmith)

That's all that springs to mind right now, I know if I come back tomorrow I'll think of loads more.

DT Jaysus, Priests version of Johnney B Goode is in my opinion pure quality, it has that great electric sound!

Sounds better the louder you play it!

    These are fairly atrocious

But how come this rules so much :D

I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree so, because I think it's one of the worst things they've ever done (And that's saying something :p). I think one of the reasons I can't listen to their albums from that era, apart form the terrible song writing obviously, is because of that over processed guitar sound.

I hate to admit it, but I actually think that cover of Leper Messiah ain't half bad!? The cover of Battery by Machine Head kicks a**e, as does Trivium's cover of "Master Of Puppets".

(...............prepares to be slagged to death.) :-D

Motorhead's cover of Louie Louie anyone?
What about most of Marilyn Manson's covers? Tainted Love, Suicide is painless, etc.
Actually who did that cool cover of Cars? Was it Fear Factory? That was half brilliant half absolutely terrible. Garage Inc. has it's moments. It has a BOC cover of astronomy on there that is about a million times better than the original.

Iron Maiden's cover of 'My Generation'. It was a b-side about 1995/96-ish. Pretty awful really.

I do like their cover of 'Hocus Pocus' though :)

I like Death's cover of Painkiller, personally.

Also like Mastodon's cover of Orion, I like the way they made their imprint with their own playing style. Complimented it as a cover methinks.

Avril Lavigne's version of the Metallica song 'Fuel' is utter rubbish, if it hasn't been posted here already.

The vocals mainly. And any sixteen year old could make the music sound better than that.

I'm still traumatised from when they supported Maiden. :(

I'm not a big fan of either band really, but they had no place on the same bill as eachother, couldnt imagine the Iron Maiden crowd digging FFAF at all, and likewise.

I had a sneaking suspicion people were just set against the cover because they don't like the band in general. The vocals are pretty cheesey though.
