    Hi all,

    Frind of a friend (not me, honset :rolleyes:) is looking for a small app, preferably free at least short term to recover some files he accidentally deleted. Not in the recycle bin etc. Any reccommendations before I have him doing a restore? OS is XP Pro SP2.

    I know restore doesn't always get hese things back but if no apps are suitable, should it work for some small files like .doc/some folders? I remeber doing one or two before and all didnt go to plan.

    Cheers

    GetDataBack by runtime software www.runtime.org
    its the mutts nutts, saved my arse a few times. Think it is about €50 odd, so well worth it. If it aint worth paying for, it aint worth getting the stuff back IMHO :)

    restoration rest2514 - recovers deleted files - handy for one or two

    photorec - recognises a heap of file types, and will scan the 1's and 0's on the raw drive

    These two are freeware;

    Data Recovery

    Recuva (From the guys who brought you CCleaner)

    I have tried both and they work fairly well. Hope it helps.

    :eek: 50e, bit expensive when the others mentioned by Capt'n Midnight & King Nothing are free. I have personal experience with data recovery, does the job, got me out of a spot of bother before.
