Was out last night.... usual, Loud music, people shouitng in your ears, Was on the way home, when I noticed my hearing wasnt that good, went to bed and ignored it.... got up this morning, This very loud high pitched constant noise has been going since and it sounds like my ears are stuffed with cotton wool, I can hear a bit more clearly now... but the high pitched noise is still going, I did a quick google, to only find out that millions of people are suffering from a incureable disease called tinitus.... Will mine go away, seeing as it was loud noise that caused it.... or am I going to be stuck like this for life.... It would drive you crazy and people have come to suicidal state over it.... Please let me know if I am going to be hearing this for the rest of me days... :( I never really had bad hearing problems or this noise before... Cheers lads... in advance.

I wouldn't worry about it to be honest. It's happened to me before too, either when I stand too close to speakers or like yourself have people shouting in my ears. I wake up the next morning half deaf with a ringing in my ears and everything sounds slightly tinny. The ringing should go away but may take a day or two.

It sounds like you've done a bit of research already so I may stand corrected, but I believe it has something to do with small hairs on the inside of your ears and when they get damaged (or bent) due to loud sound waves hitting them, it results in a ringing sound. Some people seem to get it permanently, but as far as I know that usually only happens after a lot of exposure to loud noise. Think I read somewhere that Sting (frontman of the band not the wrestler!) suffers from tinitus.

All in all, I'd say you have nothing to worry about. See how it goes for the next three days. If it hasn't vastly improved by then, it might be worth getting looked at. That said, I doubt it will come to that.

It'll go away after a days. That ringing your hearing is cells in your ear associated with hearing certain frequencies dieing. It happens every time you are exposed to excessively loud noises for an extended period of time. Aka a niteclub!

Your hearing will simply never be as good as it was before. But over time your brain will compensate & you won't notice the missing frequencies.

When your in bed late at night & it's very quite listen & see if u can hear a slight ringing. That's tinnitus. Most people in the western world suffer from it i'd imagine.

This is not a hospital. Go see a doctor if it persists.
