Crouching down behind the desk here as I ask a question that has occupied me for a while:
Where do Moderators and regular posters find the time to monitor/contribute to this site:o

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

I get quite a decent salary for moderating. They promised me free coke & hookers as well, but I haven't seen any yet though :(

I'm only recently becoming a regular contributor to the site, but I'm trying.

By day, I'm a mild mannered Audi Sales Consultant :D

I don't post too often but when I do, they are so witty and informative that the site's hits double leading to more advertising revenue. My cut of that revenue keeps me living in the style to which I have become accustomed.

    LOL,

I work in IT, so I have two PC's on my desk. I have one that I would usually be working on, and then my own.
When I am installing apps, or re-booting or burning CD's etc, I turn to my own PC and deal with other stuff, which includes surfing the web.

Tabbed browsing is such a wonderful invention, always have technet or something ready to flick over too.

I'm sitting here while doctors receptionists take times approaching eternity to get my the details required to remote access their PCs to fix them. Gives me about 40 minutes a ticket to surf the net :D

From IT to selling Audis... how did you find the career change? Always wondered about moving away from IT (I'm another one:( ), but the big salary drop moving to a new job in a new field where I'd have zero experience puts me off.

I've always been in the motor industry (going on for 9 years now), from distributor to service reception, account management in a fleet management company to IT Manager of another one (self taught IT knowledge, no formal qualifications).

I really enjoyed half the job - loved the strategy, training and the big picture stuff, hated the other half - got sick of setting up users and re-setting passwords.

I've always wanted to do car sales, and I also believe that if I want to get to the top of the management tree I'll need some proper sales experience, so I went for it last April.

I'm really enjoying it - meeting people, being my own boss (to a certain extent), spending my day talking about cars. Heaven!
There are some problems with it - it's very seasonal, very open to the ups and downs of the economy and very discouraging when you get people coming in and treating you like a dishonest a**hole when they don't even know you.
I've also had a bit of trouble adjusting to not being able to control my time. In IT I had a desk job and everything could be delegated or deferred and prioritised at my whim. Now, no matter what I'm working on or how important it is, the guy who comes in and wants to talk about how the New A4 is the same as the old one and that he's happier with his C-Class (seriously, it happens!) takes precedence.

Don't worry about the money though, if I make my targets this year I'll be making about 50% more than I did in my previous job. Flip side is that if I consistently miss my targets, I'd better make sure my CV is up to date...

Promises promises - I was told the same when I sat the boards.ie interview!
Anyhow, the 100k keeps me in pocket money!
In my spare time I do a bit of IT stuff!

Not an IT person or in the motor trade any more.

I'm an antique dealer who specialises in jewellery. Formally, I'm a diamond grader and gemmologist.

This is me: www.tempoantiques.com - soon to be completely overhauled!!!

Student of town planning here, one year left till I implement my pro autobahn, anti cycle lane policies in a bloodless coup at the Dept. of the Environment, all stranglings!
