    Seems so, http://cgi.ebay.ie/Convertitore-da-VGA-PC-a-TV-VIDEO-WIRELESS-ULTIMATE_W0QQitemZ270207864685QQihZ017QQcategoryZ3761QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Good idea, hopefully someone will recommend a decent one, since you now have me interested too. Dunno what that one in the link is like.

Does your laptop support S-Video out? If it does you can attach a Wireless Video Sender to the laptop and one to the TV. This works well when both laptop and TV are in the same room but not so well if they are in different rooms and there are wi-fi networks in range as the extenters work on the same frequency.

    This might be helpful:

    VIDEO SENDER - VK50E

    2.4 GHz Audio Video transmitter.
Transfers a video from any A/V source (DVD player, SAT, DVB-T, VCR etc.) to a TV located in any room.
Allows control of the A/V source from the viewer’s armchair

that ebay device converts your vga resoltuion down to svideo and sends it over the air to the tv.
wcullen's suggestion will do the same thing and can be bought in argos for half the price of the ebay one (iirc)

i think, however, that the OP will want to get a good, ie, readable text, resoltuion on his lcd, and this is not possible with those wireless devices.

something like this will do if you can find one -

otherwise youw ill have a blurry screen, ie no use for browsing, and no benefit from hd moveies on your laptop

The Video Sender does not interfere with your wi-fi signal. The wi-fi signal affects the quality of the image though but when they are within a short distance they work fine. I have tried and tested. There are options on the devices to vary the frequency but neighboring wi-fi networks running different frequencies limited my range.
