On a side note, I just heard an interview with Michael Eisner (from Disney) on newstalk to say that the deal was done late last night - hands have been shaken, smiles all round - it seems to be over !!!

    More info:

"Could it be that our prayers have been answered? Is the writers strike really over? According to former Walt Disney CEO Michael Eisner, it is! Eisner broke the news this evening on CNBC’s Fast money, saying “It’s over. They made the deal, they shook hands on the deal. It's going on Saturday to the writers in general.”

If Eisner speaks the truth then this is great news. The CNBC article did mention that Eisner seemed to hesitate when considering the possibility that the writers might reject the deal but apparently he then went on to say that the deal was in fact made and that the writers would be back to work soon. No details were given as to the terms of the deal.

We can only hope that Eisner hasn’t spoken too soon. In fact, I’m hesitant to get excited over this news just yet because less than an hour ago Variety reported that there is supposed be some big meeting on Saturday and the official decision on whether or not to call off the strike isn't supposed to happen until then."

The members of the WGA still have to vote on the deal on Saturday. Hopefully they wont, but it is possible that they'll reject it.
